Q: Will this unit play Bur-ray on a windows laptop inputting to USB 2 or 3.0 using supplied cableing without any additional software?

I have used it on a Mac with Mac Blu-Ray Player. I suspect a Windows machine will need a software player. You need two USB ports to use the player and the cable may be too short to reach a second port, but a USB extension works fine.

Q: Will this work on my iMac Early 2008?

It works on my iMac 2010 and Ive got Maverick 10.9 on it so I don't see why it wouldn't work with yours. I finally got it to read a Blue Ray Disk that I had data stored on it so I could retrieve that data. It was burned originally with a Windows System. Ive used it for regular DVDs and they all read fine. Hope this helps.
