A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

A Great Read
"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" by George R.R. Martin is a compelling collection of three novellas set in the richly detailed world of Westeros. Taking place about a century before the events of "A Song of Ice and Fire," these stories follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, who is revealed to be Aegon V Targaryen. The book masterfully blends elements of classic chivalric romance with the dark, intricate politics and rich lore that fans of Martin's work have come to expect. Duncan, a towering but humble knight, and Egg, a prince in disguise, make for an engaging pair, their dynamic providing both humor and depth. Martin’s skillful world-building is on full display, with vibrant descriptions and well-developed characters that enrich the tapestry of Westeros’ history. Each novella offers a self-contained narrative, yet they interlink to reveal broader themes of honor, loyalty, and the complexities of knighthood. The prose is as immersive and detailed as ever, ensuring that readers are drawn into the medieval setting and its nuanced social structures.Overall, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is a satisfying and well-crafted addition to Martin’s expansive universe. It provides a deeper understanding of the history and lore of Westeros, while offering an engaging and adventurous read that stands on its own merits.

Good.
This was set 100 years before the events of the Game of Thrones and is actually a set of three novellas of Dunk, the hedge Knight and his squire, Egg. The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight are the three novellas that made up A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. The writing of G.R.R. Martin was crispier than the GoT books and these novellas were quite toned down in matters of description of violence, treatment of women and slangs. In fact, found only two to three instances where few raw words were used, which is in stark contrast to the GoT books. An easy going read, found this book quite interesting. The illustrations were plus. Illustrations were very good and may tempt many aspiring artists to follow the sketches and try on their own.The bad thing about the book was the condition. The glue wasn't strong and the entire jacket threatened to come out which I mended with glue. In spite of that, at the middle portion, the book got clearly divided on the spine (thankfull, didn't snap into two parts), which again had to be mended by glue. Wonder whether this solo book had the problem or the whole lot. So, others may please be careful after receiving this order.

Glad to obtain it.
Well, the star was taken away because the book was just haphazardly thrown into the box and cover was folded, even some pages were bent, along with the creases on the cover. Haaa! It's really frustrating. Even the copy I bought of Macbeth and that of The Prince previously, were in the same condition. Though this doesn't hinder the reading but it really hurts to see our books in such condition. I hope you do something about it.

A different way of experiencing Westeros
About the delivered product:The copy is quite good. It collects the 3 Dunk and Egg stories published so far. Decent quality paper and binding. No complaintsAbout the book:While the book is set in Westeros just like George R R Martin’s seminal “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, the stories contained here are quite different by virtue of focusing more tightly on the two main characters: Dunk and Egg. Ser Duncan the Tall is a quite legendary character in the ASOIAF canon, and these stories show his growth from a humble naive knight. Hopefully there are more stories to come in the future.

Delightful Tales
This a wonderful book. Two very lovable characters - Sir Duncan the Hedge Knight and the Young Prince Aegon - in three separate adventures through Westeros about 80 years before Game of Thrones. Humour, dram.a and mystery in each tale. The book also has some wonderful line drawings and they remind of stories I read when I was a child. Very heart warming and comforting too.

Fine
The media could not be loaded. The book itself is of high quality, however I was disappointed to find out how small it was, I was hoping for it to fit into the rest of my asoiaf collection.
