Zeppelin '71. 4cds, 3 gigs
This is a 4cd set covering 3 separate LZ gigs from Aug/Sept 1971. Essentially it is the 'Road to Hampton' and 'Orlando to Osaka' sets combined into one cheap package (at under £20, not to be sniffed at!!).Sound quality varies a little across the set; disc one (Orlando) average, discs 2/3 (Hampton) reasonably decent, disc four (Osaka) superb, amongst the clearest I've heard in these now numerous semi-official releases doing the rounds.Performance wise, Zeppelin are on ok form, not bad but I have superior gigs to these nights (RAH 1970, Soton 1973, MSG 1975 to name three), but taken together these three gigs offer a decent snapshot of where Zeppelin were at as they entered their dominant superstar years. One amusing oddity is hearing Plant introduce Stairway to the Hampton audience to an indifferent silence (Zep 4 was still a couple of months from release at that point). The downside is that all three gigs are incomplete, but you still get three versions of Moby Dick across the four discs, which is three more versions (at least) than anyone really needs to hear today! Also note the Osaka gig (disc 4) is from the second night (29th Sept.), the first night is available in fuller form on a different double cd.Despite the incomplete performances, and the excess of drum soloing!!, you really can't go too wrong at this price. A handy addition to most fans Zeppelin collection, if not quite perfect.

Well this is a brilliant listen to compliment their first four albums.
