what was obviously faulty and of a bad design. Would not go out and buy this ...
This item had a faulty on/off switch, and the power lead from the unit to the power plug was too short to be able to reach the aquariums cabinet top at the back of the aquarium, and needed to have an extention length of electric cable fitted to it, to make it long enough to be able to sit on the cabinet. The on/off switch which is a rubber shaped half rubber ball with the on/ off switch under it, had was difficult to turn off once on, and difficult to turn on, and Had to have a table lamp on and off rocker switch fitted so that you could turn it on/ off first time everytime, it eventually was a decent usable item, but only thanks to me being an electrical engineer and having the skills to make right, what was obviously faulty and of a bad design. Would not go out and buy this same item again.

This is a T8 not a T5
i was under the impression i was ordering a T5. The instruction manual in the box even says it's a T5, but it isn't, it's a T8, So having ordered tubes for a T5 i had to go reorder the older T8 system tubes, bit of a pain but the tank needed light fat as the plant's wern't very happy and were starting to die due to the lack of light

twin bulb transformer!
runs 14w-20w for those concerned... i wasn't sure on this item as i had to run 2x15w bulbs but it clearly states that it runs 14w, 18w and 20w on the unit although i was running a 15w bulb on a 30w transformer it would burn the bulbs out after roughly 9 months. the only concern i do have is there is no sign of any starters which are normally on transformers and no way to look inside the unit...

Not a uk plug.
Does not have a 3 pinned UK plug.Will have to buy a converter to to be able to use it!edit:sent back to see if they had simply sent me the wrong one and have been sent the correct 3 pinned plug this time around. but this time one of the plastic ring parts around the part where you slot in the lights will not screw together. I will have to tape up with sellotape.

simple design. Straight forward install. minus 1 star for the cumbersome wiring and the fact there are no mounting screws supplied.
