Q: How can you attach these to flat surface

I would cutout a piece of 1/8 inch thick foam to the same dimensions (i.e. L X W) of the solar cell. Then cut channels through the foam to run the wires from the corners of the solar cell to the entry point of the device that holds the charging circuitry/battery etc.

You can connect an infinite number of these in parallel to increase your current capacity at the 5V out, because the current out from each one adds to the total. Example 30 cells at 30mA will give you 900mA. The problem with knowing if they can be connected in series is that the specifications tell you what mA output is limited to, but not what the flow through current it can handle. So I took one and tested it to see how it would work. Connecting cells directly in series, + to -, to get a higher voltage doesn't work because this model cell acts as a resistive load to external voltage less than ~5 volts. Inputting 5.5v the cell only passes 6mA of current. I would look a different model with a higher current capacity to make solar panels. Hope this helps. Good Day,
