BT made a good thing worse!
We had the 150 for our daughter and bought the 250 when our son was born. The 250 has superior sound quality but thats all it has going for it. The battery life is very poor, it no longer lasts more than five hours so when we take it up to bed with us it starts beeping at about 4am. There is a number to call for replacement batteries but they never answer the phone.Every time you pick the monitor up you can't help but knock the torch button on, which imediately mutes the monitor. There is a 'Mute Low' option but this really doesn't do anything that I can tell, there is no change in the level of sound when this is on.The crying alert is a nice feature so if you do accidentally mute it, it will beep at you to tell you your baby is crying. However if you have a fussy baby who is just whinging himself to sleep and you mute it, it will continually beep at you because of the crying alert. You can no longer read the temperature on the baby unit, instead you have to decipher the difference orange, red and blue to work out what the temperate is - I would just prefer to read the numbers.I would recommend you purchase the BT 150 but I don't think its available anymore.Update; the display has now started to disappear. The pixels seem to be broken and the temperature is now unreadable.

A repeat purchase??!
We have had two of these, so far! First one stopped working after 6 months. The second stopped working after about 18 months. Initially the digital display started deteriorating. You couldn't read the temp etc until it got to the point that there were just random black marks; totally useless. Eventually it just stopped working and wouldn't switch on. Only saving grace is that sound is pretty good. Between the first and the second one we had a Motorola one and that lasted 4 days before it was returned as we couldn't hear a thing. Not sure whether we'll buy the same one again? If you're happy to consider replacing your baby monitor perhaps even more than once, then this is for you! Surely there must be decent reliable monitors available that not only have good sound but will actually last a few years??

You can fix the battery issue
I have used this monitor now for over 3 years and can say that I have a good working knowledge of all the Pros and Cons. There are 2 major issues with this monitor which have been pointed out by various reviewers here.1- Battery is just a joke. To have a monopoly BT have a non standard AA size battery which lasts only a couple of months. Well you can beat the monopoly by just scraping off the battery compartments to accept the slightly longer AA battery. I now use a rechargeable Duracell which works a treat.2- the second issue is that after a few months the display starts disintegrating and after a while goes blank. This is not fixable. All in all a poor product which will last about a year, enough for BT to claim its out of warranty.Dont buy!

All in one, Fantastic
We love this monitor and wish we had tried it first before having tried several others.Positive...(1) Lullaby tune, fortunately Twinkle Twinkle which my daughter loves, but a few others.(2) Two way walkie talkie feature, fantastic at settling her down without having to go into the room.(3) Temp readout.(4) A very handy little torch light, press the button the light comes on the speaker mutes so no feedback whistle, you check baby, out you come and switch off the light you're back...Not so positive...(1) Night Light on the bedroom unit, seems a little like too much over engineering, we have never used it.(2) Would have liked to be able to set a too hot / too cold alarm level on the temp, instead there are presets and it tells you if it thinks its too warm / too hot.(3) Display on the parent unit - would be nicer to have an OLED / LED display, rather than a backlit LCD display.Negatives...No nanny to help you out. Otherwise struggling to find a negative!

Fancy gadget, but a more simple model may have less to fall apart!
Quite alot of extras on it, & the sound is crystal clear, but after less than a year I encountered the same problem as another review stated - the parent untit switches off half way through the night, despite being on mains charge! I'm going to try changing the rechargeable batteries to see if that helps.Has anyone else had this problem I wonder? When switching the parent unit off it makes a loud 'beep, beep, beep' noise! Fine, unless your other half is sleeping, so I end up stuffing the unit under my pillow to switch it off! The night light is useful, as is the torch on the parent unit. The temperature is displayed which can be handy too. You have to press & hold both units to turn them on - I'm sure on the parent unit, it's taking longer & longer of pressing before it switches on! If you are happy with a fancy unit, then this is worth a try, but do note comments above. A simpler unit may have less to break & therefore may last longer perhaps!

Completely unreliable and poor quality
I don't want to give this one star as I do like the monitor a lot, in so much as this is the second one I have had. The features are great, it "just works", the only quibble I have ever had with it is that the "on" light is a very bright LED that lights up the whole room and makes a mockery of the dimming night light. However, that's nothing a bit of blutac can't fix.The problem is, it just isn't built to last and is unreliable. After the first 6 months the batteries were useless meaning you had to always keep the charger with it. That's coupled with the fact the batteries are a non standard size, so normal rechargeable AAs wont fit. Then after around 9 months the screen had gone wrong with most of the display unreadable. This wasn't so much of a problem at this time as temperature of the room is less critical at this age.By 12 months, the monitor was just turning off randomly, or worse, it would turn off as soon as the child was crying/screaming. By this point, our child was old enough, we didn't need a monitor, so in the bin it went. With a second child on the way, and having liked all the features of this monitor, we purchased another one. Maybe that first one was a bad one of a bunch. Unfortunately not, now another year on, pretty much exactly the same has happened with the second monitor if not worse. A number of times we have heard our child crying through walls only to find that the monitor had turned itself off.If the monitor was reliable I would be giving it five stars as out of the box it has been fantastic, however, when it goes wrong, it is simply useless and worse than having no monitor at all as you think you'd hear your children when in reality it is just not working.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Great Monitor. Perfect if you don't drop it too many times!
We have now had this monitor for over 2 years and it is still working well. We have dropped the parent unit too many times though so the screen display is all but blank! The very helpful features it has are therefore void! Otherwise this would have been the perfect unit. Has great range - we have 3 level place and signal was strong. The music was very soothing for our baby. Many tunes to choose from too. Temperature gauge was helpful. Was good to be able to use the parent unit for "making orders" esp when you're 2 levels down! Would recommend this monitor. If you're a bit clumsy like us, then I would go for the BT Unit without the display screen!

Pretty, but disappointing
I originally bought the BT 150 and my toddler broke it. So I had to buy a new baby monitor. I loved the BT 150 so much I decided to buy the BT 250 all modern and pretty. However, I found the positions of the buttons annoying. Whenever I try to switch it on I end up pressing mute and the torch goes on and sometimes even the talk button. It is also difficult to switch on. You have to hold the on button down and it takes a while. I had actually bought two and one of them broke in the first 3 months. It just kept on going to mute and wouldn't switch off and beeped constantly. Also it has an annoying beep if it's not linked, the temperature is too high etc.I am very disappointed with it. I wish they still sold the BT 150. It was ugly but great to use and lasted me three and a half years. It would have lasted longer if my son didn't throw it on the floor 5 times. Yep, it took 5 times to break it!

Night light changes colour with temperature
We've had this product for 2 and a half years. It's finally time for a new one, but none last forever ....The best bits : the night light changes colour with the room temperature. This is great, one quick glance over at bed time and you know how many blankets or duvets to throw over - much easier than looking at numbers on the parent unit and then working out wether that's warm enough or too warm.Sound quality is excellent.Parent unit clips on great to clothes and the battery used to last forever. The cons : after 2 summers with the parent unit being in the sun the display eventually broke up, it's now hard to read the numbers or menu. After more than 2 years the battery only holds it's charge for a few hours, but originally lasted all day practically. At it's current price it's a great buy. No monitor lasts forever. It's finally time for us to get a new one but I love the coloured night light so much it might have to be another one of these.

Good for as long as it lasts.
We bought ours two and a half years ago. From the beginning the light went out at 21-22 *C,but worked as expected both warmer and colder than this. It took ages to work out why it sometimes wasn't on. This was a pain when trying to use it as a night light. But the music is good, I like the temperature warning, the range is good, the travel bag is handy. The light began to work intermittently after 2 years and then the digital display went. It's now unusable.2nd baby has arrived, but I am looking to get another despite its short lifespan, mainly cos the music was great for soothing the first to sleep. But will not buy unless I can find a special offer!

Disappointing
We previously owned a BT150 monitor and were very happy with it. When we needed a new one we bought this one as an obvious upgrade, however have been very disappointed with it - the BT150 is far superior in our opinion.Inaccurate - BT250 reads 2 degrees higher than our BT150 and our house themostat - would assume the BT250 is thus inaccurate.Temperatue range fixed - the BT250 is hard set on temperatures which are "too hot" - irrespective of where you are or what you've put your baby down wearing. The BT150 allowed this to be configured based on where you are/what your baby is wearing. For example, we're in Spain at the moment and the monitor is constantly alerting the temperature even though our son is just down in a baby-grow due to the warmer weather.Sensitivity range fixed - the BT250 has a hard set on sensitivity whereas the BT150 allowed you to select a sensitivity. With the BT150 we used to set the sensitivity to just over "breathing level" which allowed us to hear if he was tossing and turning. With the BT250 you either get everything (breathing, etc.) or nothing but crying/loud noise (on the "low mute").Batteries get hot & don't last as long - two issues with the BT250 batteries: the first is that they constantly charge when the monitor is in it's cradle and get really hot by morning, and the other is that they seem to have less battery life when fully charged (or the BT250 uses more power to run)All in all, if you have had a BT150, don't upgrade to the BT250 and if you're looking for a new monitor after owning a BT150 we'd suggest you look at other units first.

Still great after more than 2 years daily use
I never got round to reviewing this earlier on, but I was just recommending it to a friend so came to leave a review. My daughter is 2.5 years old and we still use this monitor daily. it has a great range, so much that on holiday we could leave it on the B&B and be outside knowing we would hear any noise.Great sensitivity, and i like that you can lower the volume on the parent unit to have it down low.Only issue is the batteries don't last a night, but we leave it on the charger when we go to bed so that is not really an issue. i can have it with me when watching TV and pottering along while my daughter sleeps, so does the job more than well...

I was pleased with this product initially
We bought this product for our first little one. Of course we tested it first, especially as we live in a 3 storey town house. We are very pleased with our purchase. There was no interference, and the line remains incredibly clear. It's so easy to use we looked at the instructions after we had figured it all out. It has a night light function which also doubles as a temperature indicator and muscical tunes. It's exactly what we needed and is pleasing for baby to look at. There were also no delivery issues with this product.6 months later I have returned the item to Amazon. The buttons had stopped working and it made a contant loud beeping sound! Which was incredibly annoying! Also the volume had a mind of its own and would change to the loudest when no one was even pressing it. Basically this product was good at first but developed a major fault.

Not as good as the old BT 150 monitor
I have both the BT 250 (new one) and the old BT 150 monitor. The BT 250 is fine and does what it is supposed to but I think it is a step back. They have removed the screen from the baby unit which was handy to see the temperature. Also they have removed a lot of the settings from the BT 150. You cant change the sensitivity of the alerts any more or the temperature that sets off the alarm any more. They also removed the mp3 connection (admittedly I never used it but I know people who do). Also the LED comes on too easily therefore muting the monitor when you may not have intended. I find this can happen in your pocket which couldn't happen with the old one as it required a "long press" on the button.I don't want to completely slate the produce, i really like the BT monitors and think they are better than the other ones i have seen. All i am saying is if you are buying one I'd go for the BT 150 over the 250.

Wish I'd bought one sooner
This is our 4th monitor and I wish I had bought one sooner. The set feels solidly constructed - in fact I dropped it really early on (whoops!) and one of the buttons popped out - I just popped it back in and none of the functions have been affected at all. We also travel with it a lot, all the plugging and unplugging caused the death of one of our other monitors, but not this one so far. It is easy to set up and use, just beware that the first charge for the parent (listening) unit is 16hrs. The controls are simple to use and cover all the main functions - volume, music, nightlight and a feed timer. Other reviewers have said the noise/sound quality is poor and that there is a constant buzz. I've only found this if you have the volume on full (level 5) - I generally find that level 3 is just fine, even with bacground noise, eg the TV. I love the mute low function - this stops the unit transmitting unless your baby makes a noise above a certain level. I was a bit worried about how sensitive this would be, as one of our previous monitors had this function and it only kicked in when my son was absolutely screaming. With this one, it cuts out the breathing, snuffling etc but as soon as my son starts to cry it picks it up. Much better for me to get some sleep in between. There is also a mute all, which provides a lights & buzzing alarm only - I haven't really used this but I can see how it could be useful. Of course you can leave the sound on permanently, eg if you have concerns about your child and it is sensitive enough to reassure you. Mine picks up breathing from approx 1 metre away from the bed. If you leave it on all night and use it for short spells in the day, the battery in the parent unit lasts 1 and a half nights (and the day in between). It beeps loudly when it is running low. If you have the mute low function on, it will last at least 2 full nights and the day in between. We use the nightlight every night, it's a nice low glow - enough to reassure your child and for you to see them when you peek in, but low enough not to wake them. A really good all-rounder which I thoroughly recommend.
